The all fiber optic multipoint methane
monitoring system, MSP-M100x, is developed for remotely
monitoring the concentration of Methane gas at multiple
locations in the coal mines. Since the sensor head is
made without any active electrical components, it is
intrinsically safe when used in the hazard environment
such as coal mines. The optical spectral detection technology
implemented eliminates the requirement of frequently
calibrations that are needed when a conventional Methane
detection is deployed. With the use of optical fiber
link between monitor and sensor header, the system can
provide a remote and online monitor/measurement information,
which makes this sensor system particular suitable for
the safety monitoring in the coal mine.
The monitor unit can connect up to
3 fibre optic methane sensors. The measurement range
of each sensor can be selected according to the customer’s
demand. Four standard measurement ranges are available
according to the concentration of the methane level
in volumes: 0-1%; 0-10%; 0-40%; and 0-100%. For each
measurement range the measured accuracy and response
time will be slight different.
